War Memoirs
“Tigers in the Mud” is a chronological account of Carius’ time in the Wehrmacht, e.g. training, the time at Narwa, at home and on the Western Front, anecdotes, battles, equipment, units, comradeship, technology, tactics, people, Russians, Yanks (see table of contents) – very personal and with many comments.
Deployed in the northern section of the Eastern Front before Leningrad and in the retreat of 1944, Carius achieved unusual success.
As of 2012, the work has been enriched for the first time with largely unknown photographs. A great text picture book, which makes the reader aware of the drama of those missions.
In addition, the youngest oak leaf bearer of the German Army at the time convinces with the fresh immediacy of his narrative.
